Communications
Committee
a. Membership
The
membership of the Communications Committee shall consist of:
1.
nine (9) members-at-large elected by the Council of School Representatives
and the Chair, which is elected by the general membership.
2.
a subcommittee of three (3) members of the committee and the
President will act as the editorial board and be responsible
for the production of the Local’s publication.
b. Functions
The
Communications Committee shall
1.
develop Local internal communications including member engagement
and leadership development.
2.
develop Local communications to members such as web page contents,
ads, press releases, newsletters and election information.
3.
ensure that all communications conform to the goals of the Executive
and Alberta Teachers’ Association policy.
4.
liaise with other standing committees when needed for development
of materials such as brochures.
5.
develop a Local publication which shall be published on a regular
basis and which is directed towards:
i)
providing objective reporting of Local activities and other
developments of interest to members;
ii) providing a regular means of communication with membership
for the President, the Executive, and other committees and groups
within the Local;
iii)
providing for viewpoints and expressions of opinion by the editorial
staff, invited contributors, and readers;
iv)
providing for profiles of personalities within Edmonton Public
Schools, the Local and the Association, all within the constraints
of good taste and the “Code of Professional Conduct”
of the ATA.
c. Meetings
Meetings
shall be held at the call of the Chair or the Executive Committee.
Notice
of meetings shall be given at least three (3) days in advance
of the meeting except that, in special circumstances, shorter
notice may be given.
d. Quorum
The
quorum of the Communications Committee shall be a majority of
the elected members and the Chair.
