Political Action Committee

a. Membership

The committee shall consist of eight (8) members elected by the Council of School Representatives and the Vice-President, Political Action, elected by the general membership of the Local.

b. Functions

The functions of the Political Action Committee shall be to:

  1. encourage teachers to become politically active,
  2. organize a range of political activities,
  3. supply teachers and the public with information about elected officials’ and candidates’ views on educational issues,
  4. make teachers and the public aware of important educational issues during elections, and
  5. encourage elected officials and candidates to deal with issues important to teachers.

c. Meetings

Notice of meetings shall be given at least seven (7) days prior to any such meeting to all members, except that, in special circumstances, shorter notice may be given.

d. Quorum

The quorum shall be five (5) of the voting members.
