Teachers Applying for Employment Insurance

If you are in the occupation of teaching you may be paid EI benefits. However, because of contractual arrangements in the teaching professional there are some variations to the EI rules. If you have further questions, contact Service Canada. To view a summary of applying for EI benefits, click here. For the entire text regarding Employment Insurance (EI) and Teachers, click here.

The ATA provides advice to teachers who have questions about Employment Insurance (EI) or who need help in filing claims. Association staff will also represent teachers appealing decisions of the Employment Insurance Commission. For assistance on Employment Insurance matters, teachers should contact Michael Kischuk at michael.kischuk@ata.ab.ca.
